Back to traveling

When a tour guide begins its daily labor noting else matters more than the satisfaction of his tourists. The world and its time becomes relative and the only important thing inside our mind and heart is to transmit what our city means to us but from the beginning of the pandemic that fire dimmed out while we had to stay at home for several months. But suddenly I received a call from Quito City Tour that lighted up not only my day but the entire month: the first tour after a long time! The expectation to visit sites that were closed for months and now opened exclusively for us was immense. Of course we had to adapt to the new rules and protocols such as the use of masks, social distancing and a new limit in the number of people and guides. So with all the preparation and expectancy we threw ourselves to this new adventure.

The world and its time becomes relative and the only important thing inside our mind and heart is to transmit what our city means to us

My heart was racing because we had to visit a lot of places and the clock was against us. I had all the information that i needed to share with the tourists in the tip of my tongue and my senses told me what was the precise information that they needed to now. With that sparkling light that comes from people craving for knowledge we felt like spring finally arrived after a long and crude winter. We traveled through Quito’s Old Town and our first site was the museum Fray Pedro Gocial inside San Francisco’s Church where we were welcomed with cordiality. Our tourists were thankful to see the biggest museum of religious art in Southamerica. Afterwards we visited another antique church while our tourists couldnt wait to get up on Santo Domingo’s domes. We entered the church and they were marveled with the works that are kept on one of the colonial jewels of Quito. The photographs and smiles denotaded the excitment of a new discovery that many people only dream to experience By Alexander Alvarado (Tour Guide)
